This site is dedicated to chronicling my experience as a hobbyist beekeeper. It is a journey that I am just now embarking on so I have no idea where it will end up, but I hope that it will be a long and entertaining trek.
My wife thought I should come up with a name for my apiary in case I had a chance to market services or sell related products. I thought that was kind of premature considering that I’m just getting started and have no real idea what I’m doing and it will probably be at least another year before I would even have the possibility of selling any honey or wax. That being said, I needed a domain name for the website anyway.
I wanted something that suggested a Celtic background, and found that bees and honey have some connection to the Celtic/Pagan Holiday of Beltane. Since I was going to be starting out in the spring it seemed a like a good name and so I went with Beltane Bees.
